New In December: Elisha Lim, Justin Chin, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick and Belasco

December 1, 2011
December is the perfect time to cozy up with a new LGBTQ book. This holiday season you can pick up new releases from Justin Chin, Greg Herren, Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick and Ally Blue.
- In 100 Butches (Magnus Books), graphic novelist and Alison Bechdel protégée Elisha Lim presents “fifty portraits—some lovers, some friends, some relatives, others strangers and missed connections—from around the world in this celebration of butch sexuality. Fully illustrated in color throughout, these fifty illustrations and accompanying mini-memoirs of the artist’s encounters with her subjects brings together a diverse array of queers whose lives and work have had a special impact on the author’s life. “
- This month Duke University Press releases a collection of work from critic and queer theorist Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick. The Weather in Proust gathers writings by Sedgwick “in the last decade of her life, as she worked toward a book on Proust. This book takes its title from the first essay, a startlingly original interpretation of Proust. “
- Valentine’s Day may be in February but the season of love might as well start in December. There are a plethora of LGBTQ romance novels being released this month. You can expect new romance novels from Josh Layton, Julie Cannon, Ava March and Pierre Freha.
As always, if we missed an author or book, or if you have a book coming out next month, please email us.
