Description
Volume 4 of our LGBTQ student-writing anthology celebrates the young queer voices of tomorrow. The Lambda Literary Writers in Schools program provides a safe, necessary space for LGBTQ+ high school students to express themselves through creative writing. In our 8-week writing workshops, young LGBTQ+ writers learn the craft of writing from queer teaching artists, read illustrative texts by contemporary LGBTQ+ authors, and explore themes of liberation, resistance, and queerness today. The anthology is filled with poems, works of fiction, and essays that reflect their own unique voices as they discover their identities as artists.
Our anthology also features poems by LGBTQ+ students who participated in our third LGBTQ+ Youth Poet Laureate Residency, led by Poet-in-Residence Noah Arhm Choi. Over 4 months, students from high schools across NYC learned about various elements of poetry and wrote towards a limitless future. Participating high schools include:
- Cultural Academy for the Arts and Sciences
- City As School
- LaGuardia High School
- Brooklyn Technical High School
- Brooklyn High School Of The Arts
- Staten Island Technical High School
- High School of Computers and Technology
- Bronx Compass High School
Featuring introductions from teaching artists Noah Arhm Choi, Camryn Garrett, Zeli Miceli, Amelia Possanza, Bushra Rehman, and Kelly Roberts.
