Books Not Bans sends beloved copies of LGBT books to groups around America – for free. We produce parties with literary themes to promote connection through reading.

Books Not Bans sends boxes of queer and banned books for free to people in the U.S. who need them. Since its founding in September, 2023, it has sent more than 2,100 books to more than 25 organizations in 16 states. Among them are: youth centers and high schools, rural Pride groups, library bookmobiles, drag story hours, LGBTQIA+ centers in communities and universities, queer book clubs, and community organizations. We are a tiny nonprofit in San Francisco.

We welcome collaborations from bookstores and publishers, and authors. Most of the books we send are purchased from independent bookstores, and we throw amazing events to bring attention and enthusiasm to our work. We welcome new collaborations.
