We are grateful to these incredible sponsors for their support of the 2024 Lammy Awards

The Lambda Literary Awards (fondly known as the Lammys) were created in 1989 to garner national visibility for LGBTQ books, which had established a foothold through a nascent network of lesbian and gay publishers and bookstores.
Today, the Lammys celebrate more than 150 LGBTQ writers across 26 categories spanning a number of genres, lived identities, and experiences. We continue to proudly recognize works by self-published authors and independent and academic presses alongside works supported by traditional big 5 publishers.
The Lammy Awards ceremony has traditionally taken place in New York City. Winners receive plaque, the coveted Lambda Literary Award sticker for the covers of their award-winning book, and a place in Lambda’s decades-long history of recognized LGBTQ literary brilliance.
Lambda Literary also offers a number of sponsored cash prizes for writers at all stages in their careers.
Winners of the 2025 Lammy Awards will be recognized in a virtual ceremony October 4, 2025. Submissions for the 2026 Lammy Awards recognizing works published in 2025 will be open September 15-November 21, 2025.
Each category is judged by a panel of three judges (four for our larger categories) selected primarily from Lambda’s extensive community of readers, authors, fellows, former finalists, and other stakeholders, provided they themselves do not have titles eligible during the award year. Among the factors for selecting judges are: interest, availability, affinity for the assigned category, and familiarity with the field. Judge panels are given autonomy in making their decisions, meaning that Lambda’s board and staff do not interfere or dictate the selection process.
Finalists are announced in the spring of the award year. Winners are announced in ceremony in June.
The 2024 Lammy Awards were held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 19:00 at the illustrious Sony Hall in midtown NYC. Watch the replay below.
