Created by and for 2SLGBTQIA+ writers, Foglifter Journal & Press continues the San Francisco Bay Area’s tradition of groundbreaking queer and trans writing, often publishing those who are multi-marginalized (BIPOC, youth, elders, and people with disabilities). Foglifter Journal offers a space for artists to celebrate, mourn, rage, resist, and imagine otherwise, featuring a wide range of forms, with an emphasis on transgressive, risky, challenging subject matter, innovative formal choices, and work that pushes the boundaries of what writing can do. For ten years, Foglifter has been a home for queer and trans literature—publishing over 850 writers and 30 visual artists from across the world. By putting extraordinary queer and trans writers into conversation, Foglifter uplifts a growing community of LGBTQ+ readers and writers and carves out space in the larger literary community for voices that have historically been silenced.
We’re calling on queer, trans, and 2-SGLBTQIA+ writers to send us their most transgressive, tender, and imaginative work for consideration in our next print issue, Foglifter 12.1. Our three guest editors for this issue are: Hal Wright (Fiction), Rylan Hynes (Nonfiction/Hybrid), and Meredith Nnoka (Poetry). Submissions are open until October 1st, but we love early submissions.
