Lambda Literary’s LGBTQ Writers in Schools program is expanding our K-12 programming so that we can make an impact across the United States. With such a rich, vibrant community of LGBTQ+ voices, we want to create more opportunities to support queer writers as well as engage with the communities we serve. As we work towards building national programming for K-12 youth, we are looking for elementary, middle grade, and young adult LGBTQ+ authors and teaching artists to let us know who they are and where they are. This program specifically seeks to center and uplift the work of self-identified LGBTQ+ authors.
About our programming: LGBTQ Writers in Schools is a virtual and in-person program that brings reading to life by connecting K-12 students with working LGBTQ+ authors. We provide LGBTQ+ students with an experience that creates critically necessary, safe spaces for students to talk about great books and how to thrive as an LGBTQ+ person.
We’re looking for K-12 titles and teaching artists whose work focuses on stories, essays, or poetry that deeply explore LGBTQ+ themes, history, and lived experiences.
