We are excited to announce that Lambda Literary is joining forces with The International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, and the National English Honor Society (NEHS) to celebrate and elevate young LGBTQIA+ voices in literature. This new partnership marks a significant step forward in fostering inclusivity and recognizing diverse narratives and identities among university and high school-level students.
Lambda Literary will help sponsor the prestigious Sigma Tau Delta Stemmler/Dennis LGBT& Award and the newly established Lambda-NEHS LGBT& Award. These awards celebrate exceptional critical and creative works that reflect the experiences and identities of the LGBTQIA+ community, providing a platform for young, and often underrepresented voices, in emerging literature.
Sigma Tau Delta and NEHS faculty advisors, as well as eligible members of Sigma Tau Delta will assist in key functions of the Lambda Literary Awards beginning with the 2025 cycle, bringing their literary expertise and commitment to diversity to the table. This involvement not only strengthens the bond between our organizations but also ensures the continuation of a broad and inclusive perspective in the evaluation of literary works.
The joint effort between Lambda Literary, Sigma Tau Delta, and NEHS, underscores a shared mission to celebrate the power of literature to inspire change, promote understanding, and amplify the voices of young people and marginalized communities. By working together, we are creating a more inclusive literary landscape, where LGBTQIA+ stories are not only told but also recognized and celebrated for their impact on readers and society.
This partnership represents a meaningful commitment to diversity and inclusion in literature, and it sets the stage for continued collaboration in supporting LGBTQIA+ writers and their work.
