May 3, 2012
Spring is officially here and so are a plethora of new books! This May you can pick up new releases from Alison Bechdel, Andy Cohen, and Dirk Vanden.
Alison Bechdel follows up her acclaimed graphic novel Fun Home with another stirring examination of familial relationships. In Are You My Mother? A Comic Drama (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) Bechdel delves into her often complicated relationship with her mother:
Bechdel embarks on a quest for answers concerning the mother-daughter gulf. It’s a richly layered search that leads readers from the fascinating life and work of the iconic twentieth-century psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott, to one explosively illuminating Dr. Seuss illustration, to Bechdel’s own (serially monogamous) adult love life. And, finally, back to Mother—to a truce, fragile and real-time, that will move and astonish all adult children of gifted mothers
Beacon Press is releasing the long awaited new new memoir from author/icon Kate Bornstein. A Queer and Pleasant Danger: A Memoir is described as the ” […] true story of a nice Jewish boy who joins the Church of Scientology and leaves twelve years later to become the lovely lady she is today.”
Henry Holt and Co. is releasing Most Talkative, a new memoir from Bravo network mastermind Andy Cohen:
… Cohen tells tales of absurd network-news mishaps, hilarious encounters with the heroines of his youth, and the real stories behind the Real Housewives. Dishy, funny, and full of heart, Most Talkative provides a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the world of television, from a fan who grew up watching the screen and is now inside the TV, both making shows and hosting his own.
Also this month expect new releases from Eric Sasson, Rebecca S. Buck, and a new memoir from author Dirk Vanden.
As always, if we missed an author or book, or if you have a book coming out next month, please email us.
