All in all, September is a great time for books. Publishing houses kick it into high gear and begin to release some of their top-tier publications.
- You can enjoy the beginning of fall with new books from Val McDermid, Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla, Mel Bossa, David Trinidad, Wade Rouse, and Eleanor Lerman.
- The Dirty One (Chelsea Station Editions), Michael Graves’s debut novel, received some great early buzz at this year’s Outwrite Book Fair. The novel is both a series of finely tuned character studies and an astute 1980s cultural snapshot: “Set in the 1980’s, Dirty One follows a pack of adolescent characters who live in the acid-drenched, suburban town known as Leominster, Massachusetts—the plastics capital of America, as well as the birthplace of Johnny Appleseed….”
- This month, Midsummer Night’s Press releases Milk & Honey: A Celebration of Jewish Poetry, edited by Lambda Literary’s own senior editor Julie Enszer. In this collection, “contemporary Jewish, lesbian poets address an array of experiences – relationships between and among women, family relationships, politics, solitude, ethical responsibilities, history, solidarity, and community.”
- Vinatge Press re-releases National Book Award Winner Jaimy Gordon’s bold and daring coming-of-age novel Bogeywoman. The novel has been described as one that “combines the teenaged angst of Catcher in the Rye with the humor and tragedy of Girl, Interrupted.”
As always, if we missed an author or book, or if you have a book coming out next month, please email us.
