Mission

Bold Strokes Books offers a diverse collection of lesbian-themed general and genre fiction. Our category fiction incorporates the exciting new trends in romance, action, adventure, mystery, speculative (sci-fi/fantasy/horror), and erotica while preserving the integrity of the traditional genres. Our general fiction line, Bold Strokes Victory Editions, presents works that explore the lesbian experience in its many forms, while telling strong, human stories with universal themes. At the heart of all our fiction are empowering, meaningful stories that offer the reader both entertainment and affirmation of her lesbian identity.

NOTE: We do not review manuscripts that have been simultaneously submitted to multiple publishers.

• Preferred Word Count
  • Category fiction (Romance, Crime/Suspense, Speculative) 55,000 – 110,000
• General fiction/Victory Editions: 80,000 – 150,000
  
• Please include a cover letter containing
  • A 1 page story synopsis including the title and word count
• A short author's bio including name, address, email, phone, website, and brief description of previous and planned publications
• Indicate if the submitted manuscript is a reprint and previous publication data

• Electronic submissions only, using Microsoft Word ® .doc or .rtf
  
• Formatting
  • 1 inch margins on all sides; 12 point Times New Roman
  • Double space, indent paragraphs, and do not skip lines between paragraphs
    (no html formatting)
  • Author's name on each page, upper left corner
  • Number pages in upper right corner
